We just wanted to provide you with some information on a current initiative designed to support youth with developing long term employment skills.
The Skills Link Program, a Government funded project of the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, is a program that assists youth who are entering or re-entering the work force by providing them with 5 weeks classroom time learning job search and employability skills and a 12 week internship in a field that matches their skills, attributes and interests.
Should an employer agree to provide an internship for the participant, the Government of Canada will pay the minimum wage for up to 32 hours per week. The participant will gain valuable work experience and be well prepared to enter a regular part time or full time position with a company like yours, at the end of the internship. Throughout the work experience, employers will be supported by the program staff in ensuring a smooth transition and in assisting the youth to adjust to the work environment.
