Easy Crockpot Carnitas

Ingredients You'll Need

  • 5 lbs. pork shoulder
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp. hot sauce
  • juice of 2 limes
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 12 oz. beer
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Directions

  1. Place pork shoulder in the slow cooker
  2. Roughly chop the garlic and place in the slow cooker
  3. Sprinkle meat with salt, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, oregano, cinnamon and cayenne
  4. Rub seasonings into pork
  5. Add lime juice, orange juice, beer and salsa
  6. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours
  7. Shred meat with two forks directly in the slow cooker
  8. Preheat broiler
  9. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place shredded meat on the cooking sheet
  10. Pour a few spoonfuls of sauce over the top
  11. Broil for 5-10 minutes or until you get browned edges on the pork
  12. Serve on tortillas with fresh cilantro, avocado and lime juice
