Customers ask us all the time, “What’s the best way to grill salmon fillets”. Here is the answer…
Fresh grilled wild salmon is a thing of beauty and fantastic flavour, which is why we get asked a lot what the best way to grill it really is.
We’ve found the absolute best way to enjoy our Fresh, Wild Pacific Sockeye Salmon is as follows…
Step 1 – Prepare the Fish
Fillets or steaks are fantastic Keep the skin on. The skin helps hold the fish together and prevents sticking on the grill. Pat the salmon dry and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
Step 2 – Prepare the Grill
Preheat the grill to medium high – this may take up to 10 or 12 minutes depending on your bbq.  Next, give the grill a good brush cleaning to make sure no charred bits from yester-bbq end up on your fish. Before you place the salmon on the grill, oil the grill. We recommend using a vegetable oil. You can brush it on, or wipe it on with a paper towel.
Step 3 – Get Grilling
Place the salmon on the oiled grill. When grilling fillets, put them down skinless side first. If you like crispy skin, put the skin side down first.
Step 4 – Flip
The salmon will release itself from the grill when it’s ready to flip. Use a flat spatula or tongs to flip the salmon over when it’s 60% cooked. A 1-inch thick piece will cook in about 6 to 10 minutes. When done, remove from the grill and let it rest.
Step 5 – Serve
For a simple presentation, serve with a little bit of lemon and some greens. Enjoy!
